Women in Scotland are facing alcohol health risks as they are consuming too much of the substance, it has emerged. Research has found that 400,000 females north of the border imbibe 14 units or more a week and that alcohol misuse contributes to one in every 20 deaths in the country, the Scottish Daily Record reports. Chief executive of Alcohol Focus Scotland Jack Law noted that young ladies who "continue to drink excessively
are putting themselves at risk of developing a range of medical conditions including high blood pressure, cancers and liver disease". He told the news provider that being hung-over is not a good look, as a mixture of a bloated face, blotched skin and blood-shocked eyes can leave individuals appearing unhealthy. The organisation recently revealed that alcohol abuse costs Scotland an estimated £3. 65 billion a year. It covers the NHS, the police, social work, emergency services and the wider economic and human price. Posted by Elliot Sherwood
