Man dies because of alcohol dependence

Man dies because of alcohol dependence

The dangers associated with alcohol dependence have been highlighted after a man died due to continued abuse of the substance.

Danny Coles of Maes Yr Afon, Holywell, passed away at Glan Clwyd Hospital on November 8th 2009, local paper the Leader reports.

According to his partner, Jane Edwards, he had a problem with alcohol misuse and usually drank up to eight cans of beer a day.

"He was wonderful with my children, he was very patient.

He will be sadly missed," she told the news provider.

North-east Wales coroner John Hughes recorded a verdict of alcohol abuse and said: "It's a very, very sad state of affairs and I express my sincere condolences. "

It was recently reported that there needs to be increased awareness of the problems associated with drinking.

The Surrey Comet quoted Dr Ruth Milton, director of public health for Surrey, as saying the way beverages are promoted, priced and marketed can have a big impact on public perceptions and behaviour.
